   Decision

“Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide.”

                                      ~ Napoleon Bonaparte

As humans we are born with “free will” to do what is good and what is bad. And every decision we encounter comes with a “risk” or “expectation” of gaining or losing something. The expectation is a function of the probability of some outcome, with the total gain or loss involved. Sometimes we have to make a small decision such as choosing a new pair of sneakers to buy from the mall, or whether to buy a Pelli jacket or the Gucci jacket to match the sneakers for the concert coming up. But when faced with making a decision that deals with the lining of your our normal way of handling these decision is not a way we approach this situation. It is always important to understand your risks, what are the positives and negatives that will come from the situation. Take the time to deliberate all of your angles, weigh your options because we only live once.
One of the only true gauges of human intelligence is ones ability to properly weigh the risk and rewards of a particular situation in relations to the “value that one place on their life. How many people in today’s world have actually taken the time to appraise their worth as human beings, and used this appraisal to assign a material or spiritual value on themselves? If an individual doesn’t know their value as a human being how can they ever expect in reality to properly calculate the risk and reward of a particular endeavor in relations to the value of their life…
We are all faced with many decisions to make, but the biggest decision that you will make will be the day you’re forced to decide between what is right and what is wrong, the streets or school, the street or work. The downfall for most of us is letting what you see in others dictate your decisions. DON’T. You have your own life and everyone’s situation is different. Machiavelli once said “Men in general judge more by their eyes than their hands, for everyone can see but few can feel.”
The first wrong decision you could make in the streets is judge your success off another person. As children we watch cartoons on Saturday and we saw spiderman, batman, power rangers, etc. And we were so impressed by their moves we had to go outside and try them on someone. You knew you could do the move but it wasn’t exactly like you they did it. But now that we are older the imitation doesn’t stop. Now we have others we see as our hero’s to mimic such as Jay Z, Big Meech Aaron Jones, Jeezy, Styles P. We listen to their flow’s and become infatuated with their swag so we imitate them. When we rap, we have to have that flow just like them, and when we maneuver we have to have that swag just like them because those are the things that make them uniqe to us. We get so cool for ourselves that we forget who we really are. But you’re not them, you can use another person as a blue print, but their success and yours will not be the same.
It is important that reason supports your decisions. Give yourself the time to always challenge your thoughts with “Why”.
                                                                         You want to hustle? Why?
                                                                    What expectations do you have?
What long term goals do you have?
Why the streets rather than a school?
Why the street rather than a career?
It only take one decision to decide what you’re going to do in life.
